Vivek Bali Extends Strong Support to Uniform Civil Code, Calls It a Step Towards Equality and Justice
Jammu, September 15, 2026:
Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) J&K , State President , Vivek Bali has expressed his strong support for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), describing it as an important step towards ensuring equality, justice and uniformity in civil matters for all citizens of India.
Bali said that a common civil framework can strengthen the principle of “One Nation, Equal Rights and Equal Laws”, while ensuring that every citizen receives equal protection under the law irrespective of religion, caste or community.
“UCC is fundamentally about equality before the law and ensuring that every citizen enjoys equal civil rights. Matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption should be governed by a fair and transparent legal framework that protects the rights of every individual, particularly women,” Vivek Bali said.
He further stated that a well-drafted and constitutionally sound UCC can contribute to gender justice, legal clarity, national integration and the strengthening of individual rights.
Bali emphasised that India’s diversity must always be respected, while civil laws should ensure equal rights and opportunities for every citizen.
“India is a nation of unity in diversity. Respect for our different traditions and cultures can go hand in hand with equality before the law. A progressive and inclusive UCC, implemented after appropriate consultation and in accordance with the Constitution, can strengthen our democratic values and promote justice for all,” he added.
Vivek Bali appealed to citizens to view the UCC through the broader perspective of equality, constitutional rights and national interest, rather than through religious or political divisions.
He reiterated SBSP J&K’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote social justice, equality, women's empowerment and the welfare of every citizen.
