Samba, September 2, 2026: Samba Police observed Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas across the district by organizing a series of cyber awareness programmes aimed at promoting digital safety and educating citizens about emerging cyber threats.

The awareness programmes were conducted at various educational institutions and establishments, including GMS Chani Mansar, GHS Sunjawan, GHSS Purmandal, GHSS Nandpur, GHS Purmandal, GHSS Bain Glar, IDPS Rajpura, Modern Public School Rakh Amb Talli and Arobi Aluminium Pvt. Ltd., SIDCO Phase-I Samba.

A large number of students, industrial workers, employees and members of the general public participated in the interactive sessions. Police officers sensitized participants about different forms of cybercrime and the methods commonly used by cyber criminals to deceive and defraud people.

Participants were advised to remain vigilant while using the internet and social media and never share sensitive information such as bank account details, ATM PINs, passwords, debit or credit card details and OTPs with unknown persons over phone calls, messages, emails or social media platforms.

The importance of maintaining good cyber hygiene was also highlighted. Participants were encouraged to regularly change their passwords, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on social media and other important accounts, and interact online only with known and trusted individuals. They were also cautioned against accepting friend requests from unknown persons.

During the programmes, Samba Police also created awareness about the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP) and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Helpline 1930, urging citizens to report cyber fraud and financial cybercrimes promptly.

Samba Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening cyber awareness among citizens and urged everyone to adopt safe and responsible digital practices to protect themselves from cyber frauds and online threats.
