Srinagar, September 7, 2026: Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo, on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the functioning of all Government Medical Colleges, their Associated Hospitals and District Hospitals across Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar and was attended by Principals of Government Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents of Associated and District Hospitals, Mission Director NHM, Managing Director JKMSCL and senior officials of the Health & Medical Education Department.

The review meeting took stock of the functioning of healthcare institutions across J&K, with particular emphasis on improving accessible, efficient and quality healthcare services for the people.

Minister Sakina Itoo stressed the need for effective coordination at all levels of the health system, while underscoring the importance of patient care, hospital efficiency and strengthening healthcare infrastructure.

Jammu-based officers and Medical Superintendents of District Hospitals, except District Srinagar, participated in the meeting through virtual mode.

The Health & Medical Education Department continues to focus on institutional efficiency and patient-centric healthcare delivery across Jammu & Kashmir.
