He was the remaining figure from the same group as Yasir (Pakistani LeT operative), who was killed on 5 September 2026 in the Yousmarg hills (earlier operation, reported as OP Ashdar). Musa had escaped that encounter; forces had continued tracking the pair through the Pir Panjal forest belt (Poonch-Rajouri side into central Kashmir). Officials described his elimination as a significant setback to LeT operations in the region.
