Kathua Police Seize Heroin-Like Substance, One Alleged Narco-Smuggler Arrested


Kathua, September 5: Continuing its intensified crackdown against the drug menace under the #NashaMuktJammuKashmir campaign, J&K Police Kathua have seized approximately 7 grams of a heroin (chitta)-like substance at Galak Naka in the Ramkot area and arrested one person in connection with the recovery.

According to a police press release, the action was carried out on September 4, 2026, following reliable intelligence inputs. A police team led by the In-charge Police Post Ramkot, under the supervision of SP Operations Upper Kathua, SDPO Billawar and SHO Police Station Billawar, established a special naka/checking point in the Galak area.

During checking, the police apprehended a person identified as Arjun, son of Hans Raj, a resident of Mahi Chak, Tehsil and District Kathua, who was reportedly travelling from the Dyalachak side towards Galak under suspicious circumstances.

During the search, approximately 7 grams of a heroin-like substance was allegedly recovered from his possession. The suspected contraband was seized and the accused was taken into police custody on the spot.

In connection with the case, FIR No. 183/2026 has been registered at Police Station Billawar under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
