Jammu, September 1, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026 for recruitment to 2,863 Class-IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker posts in various departments of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The recruitment has been advertised across UT Cadre, Divisional Cadre and District Cadre posts. Eligible candidates have been invited to participate in the selection process through online applications.
APPLICATION DATES
Online applications will begin on October 5, 2026, while the last date for submission of online application forms is November 3, 2026.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
For Class-IV (MTS) posts:
Minimum qualification – Matric
Maximum qualification – 10+2
For Sanitation Worker posts:
Minimum qualification – 8th Pass
Maximum qualification – 10+2
Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification will have to produce original certificates proving that they possessed the required qualification on or before the prescribed cut-off date.
AGE LIMIT
The age requirement is calculated as on January 1, 2026.
Open Merit – Maximum 40 years
SC/ST-1/ST-2/RBA/ALC-IB/EWS/OBC – Maximum 43 years
Physically Challenged Persons – Maximum 42 years
Ex-Servicemen will get age-related benefits as per the applicable rules.
A five-year upper-age relaxation is provided to candidates claiming additional weightage as casual workers under the applicable Class-IV Special Recruitment Rules.
J&K DOMICILE
Candidates must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority on or before the cut-off date.
PAY SCALE
The posts carry Pay Level SL-1: ₹14,800–₹47,100.
SELECTION PROCESS
For UT Cadre, the written test carries 85 marks.
For Divisional Cadre, the written test carries 80 marks.
For District Cadre, the written test carries 75 marks.
Additional marks will be awarded under the prescribed criteria, making the total selection score 100 marks.
The overall merit will be determined on the basis of written-test marks and applicable additional points. Cadre and department allocation will be made through the merit-cum-preference system.
EXAMINATION PATTERN
The examination will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions. Questions will be set in English language only.
There will be negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer.
The examination date and centres will be notified separately by JKSSB.
APPLICATION FEE
General Candidates – ₹600
SC/ST-1/ST-2/EWS/PwBD – ₹500
The fee can be paid online through Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
Candidates must fill the application form carefully. Once the application is submitted and an application number is generated, requests for changes or corrections will not be entertained.
The candidate's name, date of birth, father's name and mother's name must be entered exactly as recorded in the Matriculation Certificate.
Only one online application for the same Item Number is allowed. Multiple applications or appearing more than once for the same post can lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment.
Candidates must upload a live photograph and signature. The prescribed signature size is 10 KB to 20 KB.
Candidates appearing for the examination must carry their admit card/roll number slip, two recent passport-size colour photographs and an original valid photo ID.
Mobile phones, smart watches, cameras, Bluetooth devices, AI-enabled devices and other electronic/communication equipment are strictly prohibited at the examination venue.
FACILITY FOR PwBD CANDIDATES
Eligible candidates with Benchmark Disabilities may avail the facility of a scribe and/or compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination, subject to the prescribed conditions and required certificates.
DOCUMENT VERIFICATION
Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification will have to appear with original documents and self-attested photocopies. Educational, domicile, category and other required certificates must be valid as per the notification.
Candidates claiming reservation benefits must possess valid certificates in the prescribed format by the cut-off date. Fake, forged or invalid certificates can result in cancellation of candidature, debarment and other legal action.
APPLY EARLY
JKSSB has advised candidates not to wait until the last date to submit their applications, as heavy website traffic during the closing days may cause login problems, disconnection or failure to submit applications.
