Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal Reviews Digital Health Initiatives at Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kavaratti


Kavaratti, Lakshadweep: Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA), visited Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kavaratti, Lakshadweep, and interacted with beneficiaries, doctors and hospital staff to understand their experiences with the digital health journey at the facility.

During the visit, Dr. Barnwal reviewed the implementation of key Ayushman Bharat initiatives, including the utilisation of Ayushman Cards and ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account). He also interacted with beneficiaries to understand their experiences while accessing healthcare services through these digital health initiatives.

The NHA CEO reviewed the linking of digital health records and the use of the Scan and Register facility for OPD registration. He also assessed the adoption of the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) at the hospital.

The visit further included a review of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities being undertaken to improve awareness among beneficiaries about various digital health services and initiatives.

The on-ground assessment provided an opportunity to review the implementation of these initiatives and understand the experiences of patients and healthcare personnel. The focus remained on strengthening digital health adoption and ensuring seamless, efficient and patient-centric healthcare delivery.

The visit underlined the importance of leveraging digital technologies to improve access to healthcare services, streamline hospital processes and enhance the overall experience of beneficiaries.
