Srinagar: A group of women staged a protest over an acute shortage of drinking water in the Panzinara area on the outskirts of Srinagar, disrupting traffic for some time.

The protesting women blocked the road, raising slogans and urging the authorities to take immediate steps to restore regular water supply in the area.

The protesters said that residents, particularly women and children, have been facing difficulties due to the prolonged shortage of drinking water.

They appealed to the concerned department to address the issue at the earliest and ensure a reliable water supply.

The road blockade led to disruption of vehicular movement, causing inconvenience to commuters.

The protesters warned that if the water crisis is not resolved promptly, they may intensify their agitation. They urged the administration and concerned authorities to intervene and provide immediate relief to the affected residents.
