Samba: August 09, 2026: Continuing its sustained drive against the illegal sale, possession and transportation of illicit liquor in the district, Samba Police has achieved a significant success by arresting a bootlegger and recovering 60 quarters of illicit liquor from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramgarh.

Acting promptly on the information received through reliable sources, a police team of Police Station Ramgarh laid a Naka at Bandral and intensified checking of vehicles moving through the area. During the checking, a scooty bearing registration number JK21K-6381 was intercepted for thorough search. 

During the search and checking of the vehicle and its rider, police recovered 60 quarters (JK Special Whisky) of illicit liquor of 180 ml each from the possession of the rider.

The accused identified as Subash Lal S/o Rattan Lal R/o Keranwali, Ramgarh has been arrested and the recovered illicit liquor has been seized on spot by the Police in accordance with the law.

 A case FIR No. 57/2026 u/s 48(f) Excise Act has been registered at PS Ramgarh and investigation started.
