Jammu, August 19, 2026: A Regional Workshop on “Flood Plain Zoning and Flood Management” was organized in Jammu on August 19, 2026, by the Indus Basin Organisation, Central Water Commission, under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, Indus Basin Organisation.

The workshop was attended by Shri Sat Paul Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Jammu & Kashmir, as the Chief Guest.

Senior officers and domain experts from various Central and Jammu & Kashmir Government departments and institutions participated in the workshop.

The deliberations focused on important issues related to flood plain zoning, flood mitigation, prevention and management strategies, with emphasis on strengthening preparedness and adopting effective measures to reduce the impact of floods.

Experts also discussed the need for scientific and sustainable flood management practices to ensure the safe and sustainable development of the region, particularly in flood-prone areas.

The workshop provided a platform for various departments and institutions to exchange expertise, discuss challenges and explore coordinated approaches for strengthening flood management and disaster preparedness in Jammu & Kashmir.
