LG Manoj Sinha Pays Tribute to Major Dhyan Chand on National Sports Day



Srinagar, August 29: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha paid tribute to legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand on the occasion of National Sports Day, remembering the “Wizard of Hockey” whose remarkable legacy continues to inspire generations of sportspersons.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the vital role of sports in shaping the character and future of the youth. He said that sports is the most honest teacher in life, as it instills discipline, teamwork, unity, perseverance and a sense of responsibility among young people.

LG Manoj Sinha also urged the youth to explore emerging opportunities in sports science, sports management and professional training, stressing the need to build stronger sporting capabilities and infrastructure.

He called upon young people to actively participate in sports and contribute their talent, dedication and skills towards the larger goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Remembering Major Dhyan Chand on National Sports Day, the Lieutenant Governor said his extraordinary contribution to Indian hockey remains a lasting source of inspiration for the nation’s youth.
