Jammu, August 14, 2026: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir, through the General Administration Department (GAD), has approved a stop-gap arrangement for 30 Section Officers by placing them as In-charge Administrative Officers (Gazetted) in their own pay and grade, with charge allowance as admissible under rules.

The arrangement was issued vide Government Order No. 1405-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated August 14, 2026.

According to the order, the arrangement will remain in force for a period of six months or until the available vacancies in the J&K Administrative Service (Gazetted) are filled on a regular basis, based on the recommendations of the DPC/PSC, whichever is earlier.

The officers have been drawn from various departments and offices, including Sheep Husbandry, AYUSH, Health Services, State Taxes, Government Medical Colleges, Power Development Corporations, Motor Garages, Forest Protection Force, Public Works (R&B), and other government departments.

The order further clarifies that the arrangement is purely on a stop-gap basis and will not confer any preferential right upon the Section Officers for promotion as Administrative Officers. Their regular consideration will remain subject to the applicable rules and the outcome of any writ petitions pending before the competent courts.

Following their placement as In-charge Administrative Officers, the officers will continue at their present places of posting until further orders.
