India Calls for People-Centric, Implementation-Oriented Environmental Action at BRICS Meeting
New Delhi: India has called for people-centric and implementation-oriented environmental action at the 12th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting, stressing the need to balance sustainability, innovation and development while ensuring that communities are not left behind.
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said BRICS can transform cooperation into greater capability through knowledge-sharing, technology cooperation and stronger institutional partnerships.
Yadav emphasized the importance of building resilience without leaving communities behind, pursuing innovation with responsibility and keeping sustainability at the centre of development.
The 12th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting concluded with the consensual adoption of a Joint Ministerial Statement. The meeting also saw the launch of four knowledge compendiums, aimed at strengthening cooperation and sharing best practices among BRICS countries on environmental issues.
India reiterated its commitment to practical, inclusive and cooperative approaches to addressing environmental challenges while supporting sustainable development.
