GMC Baramulla Non-Gazetted Employees Begin Indefinite Strike Over Pending Recruitment Rules
Baramulla, August 18, 2026: Non-gazetted employees of Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla have launched an indefinite strike, demanding the early finalisation and implementation of recruitment rules that have reportedly remained pending for several years.
The protesting employees said the delay in framing and notifying the recruitment rules has created uncertainty regarding their service matters, career progression and promotional opportunities.
The employees have urged the concerned authorities to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest. They have called for the recruitment rules to be finalised without further delay, stating that the prolonged pendency has adversely affected the interests of non-gazetted staff.
The strike is expected to continue until their demands are addressed, according to the protesting employees.
The development has raised concerns over the impact of the ongoing agitation on routine functioning at GMC Baramulla, while employees are seeking an early resolution from the administration.
