ECMS Accelerates Electronics Manufacturing in India

India’s electronics manufacturing sector is witnessing significant growth under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), with 38 projects already operational and 16 more nearing completion.

The government has approved 106 ECMS projects involving an investment of ₹69,548 crore, which are expected to generate around 75,000 direct employment opportunities.

The scheme is also strengthening India’s domestic electronics value chain by promoting the manufacturing of critical components and raw materials within the country. This marks an important step towards reducing dependence on imports and building a stronger indigenous manufacturing ecosystem.

With ECMS projects expanding production capacity to meet, and potentially surpass, domestic demand, India is moving steadily towards greater self-reliance in electronics manufacturing.

The initiative is expected to strengthen domestic supply chains, create employment and support India’s broader vision of becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub.
