Srinagar, August 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art mechanized abattoir at Allochi Bagh in Srinagar, being developed at an estimated cost of ₹25.87 crore.

The modern facility will be equipped with an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and a bio-digestion system to ensure scientific and eco-friendly management of waste generated during meat processing.

The project is aimed at providing Srinagar with a safer, hygienic and sustainable solution to its meat-processing requirements while improving sanitation and environmental management.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardesi accompanied the Chief Minister during the foundation stone-laying ceremony.

The project is expected to strengthen civic infrastructure and support modern, hygienic and environmentally responsible meat-processing practices in the city.
