New Delhi, July 24: In a major move to strengthen the integrity of public examinations, the Union Cabinet has approved amendments to the anti-paper leak law, proposing much stricter punishment for those involved in examination paper leaks and organised cheating.

Under the proposed amendments, offenders could face up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹10 crore. The tougher provisions are aimed at curbing organised examination fraud and protecting the credibility of recruitment and entrance examinations across the country.

The revised legislation is expected to cover major public examinations, including NEET, JEE, CUET, UPSC, SSC, Railways, and other government recruitment tests. The Centre is likely to introduce the Bill in Parliament in the coming days.

The decision comes amid growing concerns over recurring paper leak incidents and is intended to ensure a fair and transparent examination system for millions of students and job aspirants across India.
