Time Has Come for Kashmiri Pandits to Reclaim Their Place in J&K: LG Manoj Sinha
Srinagar, June 14: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has said that the time has come for Kashmiri Pandits to reclaim their rightful place in the social, cultural, and developmental future of Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasizing the need for reconciliation and inclusive growth, he highlighted ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening communal harmony and restoring confidence among displaced communities.
Speaking at a function focused on cultural integration and peace-building, the Lieutenant Governor underscored the significant contribution of the Kashmiri Pandit community to the region's heritage and stressed the importance of creating conditions conducive to their dignified return.
Meanwhile, an advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called for the revival of a dedicated panel to address issues related to the return, rehabilitation, and welfare of Kashmiri Pandits. The advisor emphasized that a structured mechanism would help accelerate efforts to facilitate their resettlement and address long-pending concerns.
The discussions also highlighted various initiatives aimed at fostering reconciliation, preserving Kashmir’s composite culture, and promoting dialogue among different sections of society. Speakers reiterated that the return of Kashmiri Pandits remains an important step toward strengthening social cohesion and ensuring a shared future for all communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The renewed focus on rehabilitation and reconciliation has sparked fresh discussions on creating a comprehensive roadmap for the safe, secure, and sustainable return of displaced Kashmiri Pandit families to the Valley.
