Army Public School Samba Conducts Anti-Drug Awareness Program in Collaboration with Youth for Society




Samba, June 5: Army Public School, Samba, in collaboration with Youth for Society (YFS), organized an awareness program on drug abuse to educate students about the growing menace of substance addiction and its harmful consequences. The event was graced by Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) Gharu Ram Bhardwaj as the Chief Guest.

The program featured insightful addresses by Addl. SP Gharu Ram Bhardwaj, Advocate Devinder Singh, and Youth for Society Chairman Advocate Rahul Sambyal. Students of the school delivered impressive presentations highlighting various stages of drug addiction, its devastating effects on individuals and families, and how substance abuse can ultimately lead to death.

Addressing the gathering, Advocate Devinder Singh explained how young people who fall prey to drugs often drift towards criminal activities, thereby ruining their careers and futures. He urged students to stay away from drugs and focus on their studies, emphasizing that they are the future of the nation.

Advocate Rahul Sambyal, Chairman of Youth for Society, spoke about the threat of narco-terrorism and how drugs are being used to weaken society by targeting the youth. He highlighted the organization's continuous efforts since its inception in 2014 to combat drug abuse through awareness campaigns and community outreach programs. Stressing that prevention is better than cure, he called for greater coordination among parents, teachers, and the community to effectively tackle the menace. He also appreciated the efforts of the Lieutenant Governor's administration for taking stringent action against drug peddlers, including the demolition and seizure of their properties. In his address, Addl. SP Gharu Ram Bhardwaj interacted with students and teachers, explaining how narcotic substances alter the psychology/ psychtrophy of victims and gradually make them dependent on drugs. He answered several questions from students regarding the imprisonment of drug peddlers and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in bringing major drug kingpins to justice. He also administered an anti-drug pledge to the students, encouraging them to become ambassadors of a drug-free society.

The Principal of Army Public School presented the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries for their valuable contributions. Among others present on the occasion were Sarpanch Ashwani Sambyal and Vikas Dogra of Sanatan Dharam Sabha.

The program concluded with a strong message of collective responsibility and community participation in building a drug-free and healthy society.
