Amarnath Yatra 2026 Preparations Intensify as LG Manoj Sinha Performs 'Pratham Puja'

Srinagar, June 30: Preparations for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 have entered their final phase after Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha performed the traditional 'Pratham Puja' at the holy Amarnath Cave, formally marking the ceremonial commencement of the pilgrimage.

The 57-day pilgrimage will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan. Devotees will be able to undertake the Yatra through both the traditional Pahalgam and the shorter Baltal routes.

Authorities put in place one of the most extensive security arrangements for the pilgrimage, with over 80,000 security personnel from the police, CAPFs, and other agencies deployed along the Yatra routes and at key transit points. Multi-layered security, surveillance systems, drone monitoring, and traffic management plans have been implemented to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage.

Comprehensive medical facilities, emergency response teams, disaster management units, sanitation services, accommodation, and transport infrastructure have also been strengthened. On-the-spot registration facilities and other logistical arrangements are being finalized to facilitate devotees arriving from across the country.

Emphasizing the themes of safety, environmental protection, and national integration, the administration has appealed to pilgrims to follow all guidelines and cooperate with authorities for the smooth conduct of the sacred pilgrimage. Officials have expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of the administration, security forces, shrine board, and local stakeholders will ensure a secure and spiritually fulfilling Amarnath Yatra 2026.
