Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir:
Anjali Devi, daughter of Balwant Singh from Sunkhal village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, has brought immense pride to the region by becoming part of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) all-women mountaineering team that successfully scaled Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.

The historic expedition marked a major achievement for the ITBP as its all-women team reached the summit of Mount Everest at an altitude of 8,848 metres above sea level. Among the brave climbers was Anjali Devi, whose remarkable accomplishment has sparked celebrations across Kathua and Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, Anjali Devi successfully hoisted the Indian Tricolour at the Everest summit alongside her fellow team members, showcasing determination, courage, and dedication. Her achievement is being hailed as an inspiration for young women across the country, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.

Back in her native village of Sunkhal, celebrations erupted as family members, relatives, and villagers gathered to welcome the news of her success. Her parents expressed immense pride and happiness over their daughter’s historic feat. Traditional sweets were distributed while residents described her achievement as a proud moment for the entire Kathua district.

Anjali Devi has reportedly shown excellence in mountaineering and athletics from a young age. Before conquering Everest, she also participated in other challenging expeditions and sporting events, including high-altitude mountaineering missions and marathon competitions.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh congratulated the ITBP all-women expedition team and specially appreciated Anjali Devi’s achievement, calling it a moment of pride for Jammu and Kashmir and for women empowerment in India.

The successful Everest expedition has once again highlighted the growing participation of Indian women in adventure sports and mountaineering. Anjali Devi’s inspiring journey from a small village in Kathua to the summit of the world’s tallest mountain stands as a symbol of determination, perseverance, and national pride.
